Primary Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Senior Center Coordinator, this position performs daily delivery of meals to Meals on Wheels to participants, greets and assists with arrival and distribution of meals and cambros to volunteer drivers daily. Work includes delivery of meals on established route(s). Routine record keeping pertaining to number of meals received, delivered and meal temperatures accurately recorded, also complete paperwork regarding mileage of County car usage. Employee follows standard protocols and if unexpected situations occur will contact Coordinator for direction. Work tasks are recurring.

Essential Functions

Worker is required to operate vehicle daily (Monday through Friday) for delivery of meals.
Worker must be proficient and skilled in safe operation of car or small van.
Delivers meals to home bound clients daily and timely on established routes in Craven County.
Must load and unload cambros into cars.
Utilize proper lifting techniques daily.
Maintain operations records of vehicle.
Complete and maintain routine records regarding the delivery of meals and temperatures.
Observe client homes and surroundings and report any concerns to Coordinator daily and make written note of concern on delivery paperwork. Also report any concerns relayed by responsible parties, neighbors and or volunteer drivers.
Greet senior center participants, caterer, and volunteer drivers daily. Forward any concerns or suggestions to Coordinator.
Assist with taking temperature of home delivered meals upon arrival from caterer.
Assist volunteer drivers with loading and unloading cambros as needed.
Ensure volunteers take all food items and delivery directions.
Assist with washing and preparing dishes and cambros to return to caterer next day for sanitizing.
Assist with coverage for Congregate and Senior Center programming as directed by Senior Center. Coordinator- tasks may include assistance with serving of lunch for congregate, etc.

Complete other duties as assigned by Senior Center Coordinator, Program Manager, and or Director.
Minimum Education and Experience
Appropriate North Carolina Driver’s License for the weight and type of vehicle operated as required by Department of Motor Vehicles.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of traffic laws and regulations. Working knowledge of proper methods of loading vehicles and safe operation of the vehicle. Ability to service and provide minor maintenance to vehicle. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Additional Information
Physical Requirements
Must be able to operate basic office machinery including calculators and copiers. Must be able to lift 40 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently. Physical demands are in excess of sedentary work and do include standing and walking.
