UNC Honor System

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has had a student-led honor system for more than 100 years. Academic integrity is at the heart of Carolina, and we are all responsible for upholding the ideals of honor and integrity.

Our University’s honor code establishes expectations for our students, defines offenses under the honor code (including academic dishonesty in all forms and prohibited conduct affecting persons, property, or the integrity of the University), and outlines sanctions and penalties for violations of the honor code.

Administration of the honor code at our University is assigned to the Office of Student Conduct. Students at our School are eligible to apply for service on the Graduate and Professional Schools Honor Court, which works to uphold the University’s conduct standards and applicable policies.
