SoWoSO (Social Work Student Organization) is our School’s primary student leadership group. It is composed of caucuses — smaller groups within SoWoSO that promote areas of special interest through discussions, activities, and events.
Most caucuses focus on opportunities for education and service. They provide a collective voice for students’ concerns. They also help students develop leadership skills, build professional networks, and enjoy social occasions as a group.
SoWoSO caucuses vary from year to year, depending on students’ interests. This list includes caucuses that have been active in previous years:
- Aging Caucus
- Black Student Caucus
- Child Welfare Caucus
- Criminal Justice Reform Caucus
- Diversity Caucus
- LGBTQ+ Caucus
- Homelessness Caucus
- International Caucus
- Latinx Student Caucus
- Macro Social Work Caucus
- Men’s Caucus
- Mental Health Caucus
- Military Caucus
- Neurodiversity Caucus
- Self Care Caucus
- Social Justice Caucus
- MSW/MPH Dual Degree Caucus
- Spirituality Caucus
- Substance Use & Addictions Caucus
- Women’s Caucus
Collectively, SoWoSO members nominate graduation speakers, select recipients of School awards for excellence in teaching and mentoring, and host student activities.
