CE Hours and Credits

Our continuing education programs apply toward licensing requirements in most states for social workers, mental health counselors, marriage and family therapists, addiction specialists, and psychologists.

CE hours for credit vary, based on individual programs and their content. Please check individual program descriptions for details.

Please note that CE requirements vary by profession and state. For current requirements, contact your state licensing board.

Social Workers

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work, #1406, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. UNC School of Social Work maintains responsibility for the course. ACE provider approval period: 08/10/2019-08/10/2022. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval for continuing education credits.

Counselors

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6642. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. UNC School of Social Work is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Psychologists

Many of our programs are co-sponsored by the North Carolina Psychological Association and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work. The North Carolina Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The North Carolina Psychological Association maintains responsibility for co-sponsored programs and their content.

Addictions Specialists

Many of our training programs are approved for meeting, as per the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board, requirements for educational credit.
