SW III IA&T-Foster Care/In Home (Bilingual)
General Definition of Work
This is a bilingual Social Work position. Applicant must be fluent in Spanish.
Provide Foster Care and In-Home social work services to monitor and maintain the safety of children where neglect or abuse has been identified. Conduct assessments that accurately identify strengths and needs of the family system and assess risk of continuing harm to the children. Work to strengthen the family’s capacity to protect and nurture the children through referrals to community resources. Model and support appropriate behaviors that will enhance family functioning. Arrange for appropriate alternative placements when children are not safe within their own homes. Competently testify in court when necessary. Document case information thoroughly and timely. Provide consistent contact and follow-up with families. The sharing of after-hours, on-call duties with other staff is required.

Essential Functions
• Applicant must be fluent in Spanish
• Applicant must have knowledge of child welfare policies and practices.
• Applicant must have excellent oral and written skills.
• Applicant must have computer proficiency and must be flexible to accommodate varied task assignments.
• Applicant must serve as an after-hours on-call worker in rotation with other workers.
• Applicant must be able to manage conflict, remain neutral and fair, engage people, build trust, and promote collaboration and consensus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Fluency in Spanish is required.
• A valid NC driver’s license is desired.
Education and Experience
MSW from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative; MSW from an accredited school of social work plus one year directly related experience; BSW from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative plus one year directly related experience; BSW from an accredited school of social work plus two years directly related experience; four year degree in a human service field plus three years directly related experience; four year college or university degree plus four years of directly related experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands to finger, handling, feeling, reaching with hand and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately quiet location (e.g. business office).

Position salary is $59,377 annually.
