Summary

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association is a membership association of community health centers (federally qualified health centers and federally qualified health center look-alikes). NCCHCA’s mission is to promote and support patient-governed community health care organizations and the populations they serve. Primary Care settings play an important role in screening and treating substance use disorder, including opioid use disorders. As safety net primary care providers, community health centers play a significant role in efforts to address the ongoing opioid crisis and have become a major source of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), the standard of care for those with opioid use disorder (OUD). NCCHCA is growing our capacity to support health centers in increasing and sustaining the services they provide for individuals affected by substance use.

We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) to fill the role of Substance Use and Recovery Program Coordinator. This position will:

Oversee a new Medication-Assisted Treatment grant which will provide health centers with funding and resources to extend Medication Assisted Treatment programs to support people with opioid use disorder
Coordinate and monitor the array of training and technical assistance services and supports required by the Association’s members related to substance use treatment in the primary care setting
Minimum Qualifications

Current licensure as a LCAS
Minimum of 5+ years of manager or director level experience in a behavioral health setting is required
Bachelor’s degree in health-related field
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in public health, health administration, social work, public policy, or related field preferred
Experience serving Community Health Centers, safety-net primary care providers, and non-profit boards is preferred
Experience working in or supporting Medication Assisted Treatment services in primary care settings is preferred
License/Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work requires considerable knowledge of alcohol and drug addictions
Considerable knowledge of substance use disorder support in primary care setting
Considerable knowledge of counseling techniques and their application to substance abuse casework is required
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Sound clinical judgment and excellent clinical skills
Ability to problem solve by gathering and analyzing information
A working knowledge of federal and state standards as well as regulating body standards
Ability to facilitate board committees and workgroups
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and work effectively with diverse populations
Proven ability to think strategically and plan effectively; detailed and results-oriented while managing multiple tasks against deadlines
