PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The employee in this position receives, coordinates, and completes recommendations for agency, relative, private, and foreign adoptions.

Recruits, trains, and completes recommendations for prospective and current foster and adoptive parents.

Receives and processes requests for Confidential Intermediary Services linking biological families with adoptees.

Provides advanced, professional level casework for neglected, abused, or dependent children.

Works regularly in the field conducting home visits, school visits, etc.

Prepares reports and testifies at juvenile court hearings.

Prepares and maintains ongoing documentation of workload activities.

Provides referrals and engages community partners.

Facilitates Child and Family Team meetings and Permanency Planning Action Team meetings.

Participates in revolving on call coverage requiring 24 hour a day availability.

Performs other duties as assigned, which may include emergency shelter duty.

Examples of Duties
IDEAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to complex casework, group work, and community issues.

Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families, as well as civic, legal, medical, social, and religious organizations.

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and executive work effectively.

Ability to analyze, prioritize, plan, and execute work timely and accurately.

Typical Qualifications
PREFERRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work;

Or, Master’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and one year of directly related experience;

Or, Bachelor’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience;

Or, Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience;

Or, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience;

***One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative for children’s services social work positions.

And, the successful candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Criminal records check, drug screen, references and transcripts will be required for the successful candidate; this position is subject to random drug testing.
