Job Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and supervision to a team responsible for receiving and screening Child Protective Services (CPS) and Adult Protective Services (APS) reports, managing courtesy requests from other counties, and providing outreach and prevention services for both children and adult services. This position works closely with community partners, provides education to community agencies, plans, and facilitates workflow of the unit, and participates on the agency management team.

This position is responsible for ensuring that social work staff assist families and individuals with accessing appropriate and necessary services, and that protective services reports are screened according to NCDHHS policy and the General Statutes in the state of North Carolina. Assigning new reports to the CPS Assessments team within the Child Welfare Information System (CWIS) and new reports to the APS team via email within mandated timeframes. Tracking data and submitting reports to the state and agency management team. Ensuring the proper background checks are run per required policy. Managing record requests that are subpoenaed from the agency. This position sets unit goals, implements policy, provides training, and conducts staff meetings and regularly scheduled conferences with workers. Employee shares on-call duties with other supervisors on a rotating basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Considerable knowledge of methods and principles of casework supervision and training; laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program; governmental and private organizations and resources in the community; social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to specific casework and community problems; different behavioral, socio-economic, culture and racial values and how they affect children, adults and families; problems and their treatment; different advocacy theories and techniques. Ability to supervise, train, and orient a variety of staff including social workers and administrative support; maintain good working relationships with individuals served and partner agencies; ability to communicate effectively; exercise excellent judgment; read and interpret statute and policy; accurately record and maintain data; proficiency in the use of all required technology.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work; BSW from an accredited school of social work and one year of directly related experience; Master’s degree in counseling from an accredited college/university in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Four-year degree in a human services field from an accredited college/university and two years of directly related experience; Four-year degree from an accredited college/university and three years of directly related service. NC driver’s license desired.

Salary
$65,462; Salary Grade 67
