POSITION INFORMATION:

New Hanover County Department of Social Services is seeking an experienced Social Work Supervisor within the Child Protective Services section. This position is responsible for the Protective Services After Hours team which provides Child and Adult Protective services during periods that the agency is closed. Duties include assigning and evaluating work; processing immediate risk situations to children; making appropriate custody decisions; reviewing and making screening decisions on CPS and APS reports; planning for crises for children in the Department’s legal custody; reviewing reports and case documentation for quality and accuracy, and to ensure adherence to state standards; track and submit data; acting as a resource to social workers by fielding inquiries and consultations, and providing expert guidance; ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations; provide coaching and evaluation of staff performance; and ensure all staff completes required training.

Hours:
Hours are Sunday at noon until Monday at 8:00am, then Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-8am the following morning. This position does allow for partial teleworking. There will be occasional meetings, or job requirements that will require attendance working during 8-5 work hours. This position also requires you to work during emergency situations.

Salary Information:,
Effective July 2022, the hiring range for this position is $65,232 – $88,063.50. Salary will be determined based on qualifications.. Bilingual candidates are eligible for a differential (5%) when performing Spanish language interpretation during the course of work.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education and Experience:
MSW from an accredited school of social work and 3 years of professional social work experience;
or a BSW from an accredited school of social work and 4 years of professional social work experience;
or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have current, or prior NC child welfare experience.
Child Welfare supervisory experience in a Department of Social Services preferred.
Must have good driving record and own transportation.

NC Driver’s License and good driving record.
