TITLE: Mental Health Associate II

PERFORMANCE SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Associate II monitors activities of clients in various settings (clinical activities, special events, etc.); performs duties including consistently enforcing program rules and complies with established program procedures; responsible for participating in the development and completion of an individualized care plan based on each client’s needs.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY:
The Mental Health Associate II is accountable to the Program Manager for the quality and management of patient care services and for utilization of human resources. Clinical supervision comes from the Clinical Director.

B. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a human service field required with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Master’s degree preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
C. Special Qualifications/Job Knowledge: Knowledge of community and mental health services that are available in the area. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions. Must also be able to clearly communicate verbally and in written form.
Must be able to lead and co-facilitate various life skills and/or substance abuse and dependency groups. Basic knowledge of common DSM-5 classifications and diagnoses of psychiatric disorders is preferred.

Knowledge of client documentation requirements as instructed by the Program Manager.
E. Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work environment in direct client care.
Personnel should be prepared for a moderate degree of physical effort.
Observes a professional appearance that is appropriate to daily activities.
Possesses the physical and emotional capability and stability to perform the functions of the position.
F. Hours of Work: Not to exceed 40 hours per week and will be an hourly position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
Will be assigned responsibility for the documentation of certain clients.
Consistently assesses clients, identifying and documenting problems and behavioral changes that indicate progress or regression.
Assists with coordination of rehabilitation treatment for assigned caseload within the program, and with developing, monitoring, evaluating and updating client treatment plans and outcomes.
Maintains professional boundaries with clients.
Performs various duties as assigned in reference to client care.

A. Maintains good rapport and working relationships.
B. Practices and displays professionalism and courtesy in dealing with other agencies.
C. Understands confidentiality of all patients and agency related activities.
D. Provides directions to clients, families and visitors in a concise and informative manner.

Manages his/her time wisely.
Respects the paid days off policies and guards against the abuse and indiscriminate use of sick and annual leave. Provides proper notification of absence or tardiness.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND EQUIPMENT CARE
Maintains a clean and safe environment.
Reports safety hazards to the Clinical Director.
Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedures and internal/external disaster plans and procedures.
