JOB SUMMARY: The Manager of Social Work seeks to improve the well-being of clients by providing direct clinical and case management services including the coordination of community resources. As a licensed Social Worker, the position supervises the clinical operations of the assigned area, ensuring practices are in accordance with best-practice standards of the profession, contract/grant requirements, and Agency practices and procedures. The Manager of Social Work provides input on the program operations, program development, staff training, performance management, and personnel activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative
Help to ensure compliance with contracts, agency policies and procedures, accreditation requirements, ethics, best practices and quality standards within the field.
Assist with hiring and supervision of Case Management staff and student interns as needed.
Monitor and periodically review client files for completeness, accuracy, and quality of content.
Create and maintain case records, including, but not limited to legal documentation, psychosocial, case notes, case plans, service updates, court reports, medical reports, UIRs (Unusual Incident Report), referrals, discharge summaries, visitation records, and educational information.
Facilitate random client satisfaction surveys for quality assurance and staff supervision.
Provide case management oversite, case consultation, and crisis intervention to all direct service staff, interns, and volunteers.
Model professional behavior and positive attitude.
Complete reports on time and maintain statistical data on an ongoing basis.
Facilitate regularly scheduled case conferences and skill-building meetings for entire Social Work and Case Management staff in order to build competencies in best practices including but not limited to: Strength-based approach, person-centered case planning, motivational interviewing, co-occurring principles, interventions, and department practice protocols.
May share joint coaching and staff disciplinary action with social work and other case management staff.
Clinical
Provide at least weekly clinical supervision to licensed Social Work staff.
May carry a caseload, depending on the needs of the program.
Conduct ongoing assessment of client needs and assist clients in setting goals, as needed.
Deliver and coordinate services to individuals and families, as needed.
Provide individual and group counseling as needed.
Facilitate crisis management as situations arise.
Collaborate with and provide necessary referrals to other disciplines including legal, medical, dental, recreational, educational, vocational, substance abuse and mental health professionals, and other housing or service providers.
Engage in continuing education activity to maintain licensure.
Ensure the active status and appropriate level licenses of staff.
Ensure the improvement of client services outcomes and customer satisfaction by reviewing client charts and that all surveys are completed by the deadline.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Master’s degree in Social Work.
For D.C. LICSW Social Work licensure.
For Maryland Clinical Social Work licensure (LCSW-C).
Certificate to clinically supervise Social Workers.
5 years of progressively responsible 1-on-1 social work caseload experience in clinical and administrative tasks.
2 years of experience working with individuals who are homeless or have mental health or substance abuse issues.
2 years of experience supervising a case management team and/or interns.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral.
Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
