This job listing has already closed.
Location: *Remote
Position Type: Part-time
Closing Date: December 9, 2023

The Fair Housing Project is recruiting new testers. Please pass along to anyone who might be interested in helping us.

Some brief information about the program:
Fair housing testers are part-time employees who assist in investigating the policies and practices of housing providers, such as landlords and property managers, to determine compliance with fair housing laws. The work is typically done through in-person site visits and telephone calls. The location of tests will be dependent on how far the tester is willing to travel.

Testers are paid a modest stipend (currently $55 for an in-person site visit) and are also reimbursed for their mileage. Testing is done on a flexible schedule. During to Covid-19 pandemic, we switched our testing to phone tests ($35 per phone test, no mileage) but you would be trained for in-person testing to be prepared for the return to in-person testing.

The process to apply to become a tester is:

Complete the tester application and return it to the Fair Housing Project with your most current resume.
After we receive the application, we will review it and set up a 10–15-minute phone interview to discuss the candidate’s interest in the program as well as what will be expected of them as a tester.

The application and interview will be used to determine if you are eligible to attend a 3-hour virtual training. After completing the training, potential testers must conduct a practice test. Testers are paid $60 for the training once the practice test is completed.
