SUMMARY:

The Grant Writer is part of a growing Development team responsible for grant application creation, submission, and reporting to meet TROSA’s goals in charitable and government support. This position will write grant proposals, provide supporting materials, and coordinate data collection for community and regional foundations. More than 50% of TROSA’s budget is self-generated through award-winning social enterprises and a robust pipeline of in-kind support. Government and foundation grants and traditional philanthropic support generate the remaining funds needed to provide our comprehensive services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Compile, write and edit all regional and community grant proposals and reports
Update and manage the grants calendar and ensure meeting submission and reporting deadlines
Coordinate, and examine program data to identify TROSA’s needs and compellingly articulate them in the project or program needing funding
Obtain approvals by reviewing proposals with key providers and project managers
Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal
Along with other Development Department team members, maintain accurate and current records and create reports as requested
Assist with overall fundraising and TROSA-wide impact reporting documents and presentations for foundations, individual donors, and the TROSA Board of Directors
Participate in fundraising, special events, and other department activities as directed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling
Strong editing and proofreading skills
Excellent organizational skills and extraordinary attention to detail and prioritization
Effective planning and analytical skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as well as donor database software
Ability to take the initiative and work independently while comfortable with taking direction
Ability to be resourceful, creative, and agile as new opportunities for TROSA present themselves
Scope of Work:

Write, develop, check, and submit all grants
Collect and assemble data for all grant applications working closely with staff
Manage and maintain grant application and reporting pipelines
Work closely with the Director of Communications to coordinate and catalog all TROSA Resident Success Stories.
Work to expand this to graduates and their families
Consistently update and maintain impact reports for all areas of TROSA
Credentials or Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Communications, or another writing-intensive field, is preferred or the equivalent job experience.
