Crossnore School & Children’s Home is seeking a Director of Youth Independent Living. This position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the Youth Independent Living program throughout western NC. The mission of this program is to assist youth and young adults currently in or aging out of foster care in independence and self sufficiency. A strong understanding and previous experience with group living for youth will be necessary. This position will collaborate closely with community partners in each county and other internal agency programs.

This position will be based in western NC and travel to multiple campus locations and community agencies will be required. Position will require after-hours on-call support to staff within the team and may allow for a hybrid or remote office option.

Requirements & Qualifications

Masters degree from an accredited school of social work or related counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience in the field of foster care providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, please see attached job description.
At least 3 years of supervisory experience required.
Experience supervising independent living, foster care, or residential group care program staff strongly preferred.
Knowledge of the NC Foster Care system and DSS regulations strongly preferred.
Experience developing/implementing new programs or projects required.
Ability to think conceptually and plan strategically.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a variety of computer software programs.
Professional (written and verbal) communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to communicate and relate to staff, children, clients and the public in a positive and pleasant manner.
Demonstrated passion for serving children and the child-serving workforce.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
Must successfully complete extensive background checks, interviews, and pre-hire drug screen.
