General Definition of Work

This position is responsible for the Economic Services division for a Continuous Quality Improvement Plan that is designed to strengthen and support case work.

Essential Functions

• Develops and conducts individual and group training for the economic services division, including new employee training, targeted training based on identified errors during file reviews, and new/updated policy training. Agency-wide training will also be provided.
• Maintains knowledge of economic services programs by regularly attending agency and state training.
• Completes quality assurance second party file reviews monthly (each program will have a specified number of reviews to be completed; files will be selected at random unless targeted reviews are needed as specified by a supervisor or program administrator).
• Summarizes and communicates problematic findings, errors, and recommendations for improved practices to the supervisor in a timely manner.
• Monitors trends and conducts root cause analysis that is reported to program supervisors.
• Maintains data and spreadsheets of quality assurance reviews.
• Utilizes data from NCFAST Help Desk tickets to inform of any training or practice needs.
• Runs daily and monthly reports, reviews and sends the appropriate notice to supervisors for pending and overdue cases.
• Tracks spreadsheets for overdue cases and information tied to each case. Uses data gathered from reports and individual data boards to update each unit.
• Performs some casework functions including determination and re-determination of eligibility.
• When necessary, this position may be assigned a temporary caseload to assist units with multiple vacancies.
• Employees refer to all applicable policies, procedures, and NC DHHS communications required to complete the eligibility determination process.
• Serves on a shelter team during hurricanes, storms, and other natural disasters as determined by Emergency Management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Considerable knowledge of the program/areas of assignment;
• General knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant;
• General knowledge of office administrative practices and techniques including use of computers for word processing, data retention, and retrieval;
• Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills;
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret rules, regulations and procedures;
• Ability to communicate with clients/applicants, the public at large, and public officials to obtain data, and to explain and interpret rules, regulations and procedures;
• Ability to perform caseworker functions within structured time frames.

Education and Experience

Two years of experience as an Economic Services Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, using hands to finger, handling, feeling, reaching with hand and arms and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; work requires vocal communication to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word; work requires hearing to perceive information at normal spoken levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, using measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately quiet location (e.g. business office).

Special Requirements

Direct experience with NC Fast is desirable.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule after successful completion of necessary training and probation.

Salary is a grade 59; $44,308
