Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute, a 72-bed Joint Commission accredited State Mental Health Facility, is seeking an energetic, clinically skilled, organized individual to facilitate psychosocial and recovery planning for psychiatric patients in an inpatient setting. SVMHI is located in nearby Danville, Virginia, just one hour from the Durham/Chapel Hill area. This position will: serve as a clinical social worker providing social work services to assigned patients as needed; serve as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team; complete comprehensive assessments; assist in writing treatment plans; provide group and individual therapy; identify patient needs for community living, complete entitlement applications, and coordinate discharge plans.
A Master’s degree in Social Work or candidate for graduation within one year with a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work with case work/group work experience.
The applicant must have advanced knowledge and skills in providing social work interventions, conducting assessments, mobilizing multiple community resources, and providing thorough documentation in an electronic health record (EHR).
