Position Summary

The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time, fixed- term clinical instructor. The successful candidate will join a team of clinicians and researchers at the UNC Suicide Prevention Institute. The physical location of the position will be in Chapel Hill, NC, with the majority of services currently delivered via telehealth modalities.

First Approach Skills Training (FAST) is a suite of brief interventions that have been adapted from longer evidence-based programs to treat common pediatric mental and behavioral health concerns. Duties will include the delivery of brief, manualized FAST interventions for anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts and behaviors to children and adolescents in primary care, schools, and other integrated behavioral health care settings.

The Clinical Instructor will participate in supervised experiences to reach fidelity requirements and certification in these brief interventions; conduct evaluations to determine appropriateness for brief interventions; consult and collaborate with family, school, primary care team, and others involved in patient’s care; provide psychoeducation and coordinate referrals to alternative/additional care as needed; document all clinical work thoroughly and on required forms or in the EMR within established time frame; attend clinical and research team meetings as needed.
