Job Summary/Responsibilities

The Case Director is accountable to the CEO and Assistant Medical Director of the North Carolina Professionals. Health Program. The Case Director must be able to deal with complex addiction and psychiatric problems in physicians/physician assistants, pharmacist and pharmacy personnel, and veterinarians and is required to gather and interpret clinical data regarding these persons when they are referred to NCPHP. This position requires the ability to assist in identification, investigation and intervention of health care professionals with substance use disorders, mental health, or adjustment issues.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience working with SUD and/or other mental health issue populations in a variety of different milieus, as well as experience supervising persons providing service to SUD and/or other mental health issue populations. Should also have experience working with and coordinating care between different organizations that provide multiple levels of care to persons with SUD and/or other mental health issues. Teaching, publishing, and research experience with these populations are desirable. A keen knowledge of SUD and psychiatric diagnosis and treatment is a requirement.

Education: Masters or equivalent from a regionally accredited University, as well as licensure/certification as an Addictions Professional, (e.g., LCAS, MAC, CARN). Should have advanced knowledge of addictive and psychiatric disorders from a clinical and case management perspective

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform preliminary intake evaluation for new and returning physicians/physician assistants, pharmacist and pharmacy personnel, and
veterinarians as directed by CEO or Assistant Medical Director

• Provide crisis consultation, crisis assessments, crisis management and advice for health professionals involved with NCPHP

• Conduct clinical update interviews with NCPHP participants as needed or as evidenced by participant behavior, (e.g., relapse in
mood/thought, non-participation in recovery activities, missed UDS or other screening protocols)

• Maintain clinical records of contacts, discussions, or coordination of care with or on behalf of NCPHP participants.

• Prepare and execute contracts for enrollment of health professionals who are suitable for NCPHP monitoring

• Interface with North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB), North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP), and North Carolina Veterinary Medical
Board (NCVMB) Staff, Attorneys, Investigators, or other personnel and provide information regarding NCPHP participants as is warranted
and in keeping with the policies and procedures of NCPHP

• Serve in a supportive role for NCPHP participants during Board interviews or meetings

• Interact with NCPHP-participant attorneys and provide information or support as allowed by confidentiality regulations

• Provide support to program through outreach and educational activities – primarily public speaking to provide education about NCPHP

• Assist in identification, investigation and interventions of physicians/physician assistants, pharmacist and pharmacy personnel, and
veterinarians with SUD and/or mental health issues

• Arrange for appropriate level of care placement for physicians/physician assistants, pharmacist and pharmacy personnel, and
veterinarians for treatment of SUD, psychiatric problems or dual diagnosis issues

• Prepare letters or other correspondence on behalf on participants

• Complete special projects as assigned by NCPHP CEO
