The Bilingual Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Victim Advocate is responsible for the administration & development of Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Advocacy & Latinx outreach coordination. This position works with the Second Bloom of Chatham staff to ensure that services provided meet the needs of Latinx domestic violence and sexual assault victims in Chatham County. In addition, using the empowerment model, the Advocate will provide direct services to Latinx and Spanish speaking victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Position responsibilities include however are not limited to the following:

Provide crisis intervention, crisis counseling, emotional support, and systems advocacy for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Provide assistance with completing protective/restraining order, including court accompaniment.

Meet with walk-in and scheduled clients, and occasionally respond to hospitals and medical accompaniment, and law enforcement agencies when emergency requests for victim assistance is requested.

Assist victims with Address Confidentiality Program

Attend training and assist clients with Victims’ Assistance Compensation when needed.

Work cooperatively with other agencies and individuals involved with the client to ensure comprehensive service delivery to the victim and non-offending care providers.

Assist victims in completing the necessary paperwork to obtain needed services.

Educate clients about the legal system, generic resources and also work collaboratively with community partners.

Provide education to diverse individuals on topics related to healthy relationships, domestic violence and sexual assault.

Coordinate and attend domestic violence and sexual assault outreach opportunities for the Latinx population including SAAM & DVAM.

Evaluate your success and adapt your program.

Assist with grant implementations and reports.

Provide feedback, direction and support to all other staff positions.

Build strong, professional relationships within the community.

Participate in on-call HelpLine and advocacy duties.

Adhere to child abuse mandated reporting requirements

Maintain client confidentiality, except as waived by clients and as dictated by professional ethics.

Create and update client records and input data in Osnium database.

Position qualifications include:

B.A. or B.S. in related field and/or experience providing advocacy services.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Fluent in both Spanish and English

Ability to take initiative and work independently with guidance while also working as a member of our agency’s overall team

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $15.00-18.00 (dependent upon experience) per hour.
