POSITION TITLE: Behavioral Health Director

REPORTS TO: Population Health and Integrated Care Administrator

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: LPC, LCSW, Integrated Care Specialists, and Behavioral Health Care Manager

DEPARTMENT: Clinical

POSITION STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Director effectively manages Behavioral Health (BH) and Substance use (SU) treatment, referral/coordination of care for adult, adolescent, and children within an integrated primary health care clinic. This position will function as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Behavioral Health Director will model behaviors consistent with the published values and the Code of Conduct of Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center (RCCHC).

POPULATION SERVED: POPULATION SERVED: Roanoke Chowan Community Health Center will provide open access, community-oriented primary care of the highest quality to all residents within our service area and surrounding counties, regardless of their ability to pay.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related Human Services field
Active NC Social Worker Certification and Licensure. Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a primary care office setting
Possess working knowledge of the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders
Knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and co-morbid BH, SU conditions
Possess knowledge of clinical and service related support needs of BH and SU in order to make clinical treatment decisions as well as to provide consultation and advice to other providers.
Work collaboratively and effectively with team members to develop processes, protocols, analyze data, and solve problems
Possess high level of diplomacy and discretion to effectively negotiate and resolve issues with minimal assistance
Possess effective verbal and written communication skills

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Establishes a comprehensive integrated BH strategy and program that supports RCCHC’s mission, strategy, vision, values, and goals
Develop and maintain appropriate screening tools and track utilization
Provide clinical leadership in the development of clinical protocols for integrated care
Develop functional strategies, workflows, and procedures promoting integrated BH care
Supervise clinical and administrative staff, including consultation with clinical staff on cases
Provide coaching and hands-on supervision as needed with all BH staff. Works with staff in cases requiring corrective or disciplinary action and performance improvement planning
Evaluate staff performance and identify areas of training needed
Collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to facilitate training
Provide guidance and education to patients, families and staff about self-care, prevention and treatment enhancement techniques
Coordinate, monitor, analyze, and report on the RCCHC’s BH program, identifying problems related to patient services and make recommendations for improvement
Provide regular reports to the Director of Population Health and Integrated Care Administrator on all aspects of BH services programs
Actively participate in Quality Improvement (QI) activities
Contributes to the development and management of grants related to integrated BH
Work with patients to reduce health-risk behaviors and increase health enhancing behaviors
Monitor and improve population health outcomes
Assist in the detection of at-risk patients and develop plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration
Promote community collaboration with integrated BH and primary health care services through participation in community forums
Participate in strategic planning and compliance
Maintain compliance with workflows, policies and procedures as well as other activities to support PCMH model of care and accreditation
