Clinical assistant professor Joanne Caye and first-year MSW student Megan Key are joining faculty and students from nursing, physical therapy and public health on an “Alternate Spring Break Trip” to Tyrell County, N.C. from March 7-11. The group will be providing a health fair in the small community of Alligator with items such as disaster planning, nutrition items, stress and depression screenings, exercises, games and other activities. Then they will be cooking food and freezing it, doing yard work and cleaning for older residents (referred by Tyrell County DSS), and doing fall assessments when requested. They may also do environmental work on the outer banks and take a kayak tour, if weather cooperates.
