The Psychodynamic Attitude: What do we mean by Psychodynamic Psychotherapy?

What does psychodynamic psychotherapy really look like when we’re sitting in a room with a client? This workshop will define and discuss the ways in which psychodynamically trained social workers listen to their clients.  Workshop facilitator Margaret Wilner, LCSW, will also explore how a psychodynamic approach can be applied to and benefit a variety of populations in diverse settings.

Helping Clients Really Change Self-Defeating Behavior from the Inside out

This presentation will show how our clients’ negative beliefs about themselves interfere with healthy growth and development.  Molly Kiefer, LCSW, from the Psychoanalytic  Society will discuss how we as clinical social workers can help our clients become more aware of stumbling blocks they may actually be creating, and with this awareness feel empowered to change their belief system so that it allows them to live the fuller, richer lives they want to live.

Agencies from North Carolina and beyond will be here to share information with students about social work positions and their agencies.  A number of agency representatives will be actively recruiting for open positions.  Don’t miss this opportunity to explore social work career options with potential employers!

ALL students are urged to attend Career Day.  Even if you are not graduating in May, you will gain a sense of the social work job market and career opportunities.

To prepare, please use the professional development workshops to learn how to market yourself for career opportunities.  Remember to bring your resume to Career Day and dress as you would for a professional interview.  Watch for additional information, including a list of registered agencies.  Most agencies will represent areas of direct practice, and therefore macro students are strongly encouraged to attend CMPP Networking Night.

Creating a Professional Portfolio

Using Winter Break to Network and Get your Job Search Going
