The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a
Clinical Director for our psychiatric community clinic (STEP clinic) in Raleigh, NC. This clinic
is one of several recovery-oriented programs within our Center for Excellence in Community
Mental Health (CECMH).

We are looking for an individual who is organized, creative, and can inspire others with their
commitment to individuals with serious mental illness.
Role responsibilities include:
• Partners with the CECMH leadership team to deliver best-practice care for individuals
with serious mental illness.
• Collaborates with CECMH leadership and other CECMH clinical leaders on development
and implementation of innovations in care for those with serious mental illness.
• Represents the Center’s mission, purpose, and values in contact with external
stakeholders, particularly other partners and stakeholders in the system of care in Wake
County.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures, in conjunction with the Medical
Director and Clinic Manager, that guide and support the provision of clinical services,
and ensures that decisions and actions demonstrate regard for the rights, dignity, respect,
and confidentiality of all persons served.
• Collaborates with clinicians in our other Center programs including our first-episode
psychosis program, Individualized Placement and Support team, and Assertive
Community Treatment team.
• Supervises and evaluates assigned staff including other LCSW clinicians.
• Provides evidence-based therapy services to adults with psychotic disorders, mood
disorders, substance use disorders and other psychiatric conditions.
• Participates in treatment team and management meetings and other assigned functions as
defined by role.
• Monitors and facilitates therapist productivity.
• Reviews and acts on reports and recommendations from the Center leadership group.
• Manages therapy referrals and assigns therapy cases to appropriate clinicians.
• Other duties as assigned and negotiated.

Educational Requirements:
• Applicants should be fully licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker by the North
Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.

Qualifications and Experience:
• At least three years of post-graduate clinical work including experience with the seriously
mentally ill population.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required.
