Family Centered Treatment Specialist

Job Description—Family Centered Treatment (FCT) Specialist
Major Objectives:
• To strengthen families to prevent the removal of their child(ren) from home or the dissolution of the family due to external or internal stressors and circumstances
• To enhance the overall functioning of the family through the delivery of comprehensive family-centered treatment
• To prevent child abuse and neglect by enabling families to break the cycle of exposure to abuse

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field plus 2 years of experience working with families
• A basic understanding of trauma and families in crisis and the interrelation between trauma and symptoms of trauma as well as a desire to protect and support families
• An ability to communicate ideas, listen accurately, and establish rapport with diverse populations

Supervision: Family Centered Treatment Supervisor

Essential Duties:
• Delivers culturally competent best practice interventions by interviewing, assessing, developing, and implementing treatment plans, evaluating services, including aftercare linkage, and documenting services utilizing the FCT model.
• Complete the self-guided Wheels of Change and other required training toward FCT Certification and maintain the required recertification from the FCT Foundation as an FCT Specialist, including the videotaped demonstration or direct field observation
• Provide a minimum of two, multi-hour (2 ½) sessions with each family with an average caseload of four families while pursuing the initial certification and afterward six families
• Participate in weekly team supervision and individual staffing every other week.
• Review FCT documentation and summaries routinely with FCT Supervisor to determine if services are meeting FCT adherence and fidelity goals
• Responds quickly to assigned referrals and assignments of families in crisis needing immediate support
• Partners with the family to recognize their core strengths and values and assist the family in identifying and honoring their intrinsic beliefs and values while maintaining program fidelity
• Provides support and utilizes an analytic process to evaluate change, and the family’s ability to use strategies presented through the four phases of treatment
• Implement a flexible schedule that will meet the various needs of staff and families, including 24/7 emergency calls, and notify the FCT Supervisor (or in their absence the Chief Operating Officer) of the emergency or crisis.
• Maintains an accurate written record of contacts and assists with the tracking and compilation of data and reports within required deadlines
• Promote a positive image of the Parenting PATH and demonstrate an ability to work and execute responsibilities as part of a community and agency team with the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), including participation in agency events
• Implement a flexible schedule that will meet the various needs of staff and families, including 24/7 emergency calls, and notify the COO of the emergency or crisis.
• Partners with the family to recognize their core strengths and values and assist the family in identifying and honoring their intrinsic beliefs and values while maintaining program fidelity
• Provides support and utilizes an analytic process to evaluate change, and the family’s ability to use strategies presented through the four phases of treatment
• Maintains an accurate and up-to-date written record of contacts and assists with the tracking and compilation of data and reports in the required time
• Promotes a positive image of the Parenting PATH and demonstrates an ability to work and execute responsibilities as part of a community and agency team under the direction of the FCT Supervisor or Chief Operating Officer
• Provides a flexible schedule that will meet the various needs of staff and families, including 24/7 emergency calls, and notify the FCT Supervisor or in their absence, the COO of an emergency or crisis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to accomplish the job
• A valid North Carolina driver’s license with proper insurance coverage
• Ability to travel between various locations to assist families with reaching their goals
