2023 Michael Sherraden Lecture Series (Dr. Thoai D. Ngo)
November 13, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
To discuss potential pathways forward for the 1.8 billion youth across the globe, UNC Global Social Development Innovations (GSDI), housed in Carolina’s School of Social Work, is proud to host the Population Council’s Thoai D. Ngo, Ph.D., MHS, on Monday, Nov. 13, in the Tate-Turner-Kuralt auditorium on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. The event will also be broadcast live online.
As vice president of social and behavioral science research at the Population Council, Ngo directs global research efforts to advance four intersecting goals:
- Sexual/reproductive health, rights and choices for all
- Adolescent transitions
- Gender equality and equity
- Climate justice
Ngo’s lecture is an opportunity to engage the Carolina community, including local and global partners, to discuss the potential for innovative data-driven social, economic and health solutions that transcend national boundaries.
Ngo is the third Michael Sherraden Lecturer to bring influential and original scholarship in social development research, policy and practice to Carolina under the auspices of GSDI.
