Selina Armstrong joined the School’s staff in 2022 as a Training Specialist with the Family and Children’s Resource Program. She provides training to child welfare workers throughout the state to improve practices and outcomes for children. She facilitates trainings around topics such as child sexual abuse, substance use, secondary trauma, and child development. Before coming to UNC, Selina worked with children and families over the span of her career in the field of education and in the non-profit sector, mostly in the Atlanta area. Much of her work has centered around working with families affected by domestic violence. She has served in the capacity of a family advocate and the Director of Children’s Services. Her passion and dedication for this work has garnered her awards such as the “In the Trenches” Award through the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the “Pink Heart” Award through Devoted to Restoration.
