Matt Smith joined the School of Social Work staff in 2023 as the assistant director for strategic communications and marketing. Smith earned his master’s degree from the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media in 2017. He previously worked in higher education for six years with East Carolina University’s office of research, economic development and engagement and university news services before joining UNC.
