Laurie Emmer-Martin, DSW, MSW, LCSW is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work. Laurie joined the school’s faculty in 2023 after more than 25 years’ experience in direct practice, policy development and academia. She has extensive work expertise on the micro and macro level working with issues related to children, adolescents, adults, groups, and families. Laurie previously taught as an adjunct faculty at George Mason University for 6 years.

Additionally, she is in private practice and has provided EAP consulting with Federal Agencies and Media organizations. She has also worked at NASW and the APA and provided services in inpatient psychiatric program, child welfare, school setting, supported employment and meals on wheels.
