Laurel Powell joined the School of Social Work in 2022 as the program manager for the Family Support Program. Laurel has worked to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and behavioral health challenges and their systems in North Carolina for twenty years. Laurel has a history of working in the community supporting people with I/DD in employment services, in crisis prevention and intervention settings, and as a teacher in the public school system.
