The School of Social Work was mentioned in the Raleigh News & Observer article, “12 arrested in Chatham County-wide drug bust, 262 felony charges filed,” for the informational brochure that a group of MSW students created to educate parents about how to protect their teens from the misuse of opioids. The brochures were distributed in schools in and in other youth-serving agencies.
Clinical associate professor Sarah Verbiest was quoted in the North Carolina Health News article, “Education bright spot in the annual ranking of child well-being,” in the CNN.com article, “U.S. teen birth rate drops to all-time low,” and in the Lifehacker.com article, “How to protect your self-esteem after having a baby.”
Assistant professor Melissa Lippold was featured in an article on NPR.com, “Moms of teens can benefit from social support, just like new moms.” The same article was also featured on Minnesota Public Radio’s website, on WUTC, Chattanooga, Tenn.’s public radio website, and on WUWM Milwaukee public radio website.
