Job Description— Child and Family Therapist

Major Objectives:
• To strengthen families to prevent the removal of their child(ren) from the home or the dissolution of the family due to external or internal stressors and circumstances
• To enhance the overall functioning of the family through the delivery of evidence-based services utilizing a culturally competent lens
• To prevent the abuse and neglect of children by enabling families to break the cycle of exposure to abuse

Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a closely related field from an accredited program with the appropriate North Carolina licensure (e.g. LCSW, LPC, etc.)
• An understanding of the victimization of children and adults and a desire to protect and support families
• An ability to communicate ideas, listen accurately, and establish rapport with diverse populations
Supervision:
• Chief Operating Officer

Essential Duties:
• Delivers best practice intervention by interviewing, assessing, developing, and implementing goal plans, evaluating services, and documenting service delivery
• Provides crisis intervention services and assists families in creating and implementing a safety plan
• Respond quickly to referrals and demonstrate clinical skills with individuals, families, and groups.
• Advocates on behalf of families to ensure smooth access to services
• Maintains an accurate written record of contacts and assists with the tracking and compilation of data and reports in a timely manner
• Monitors and evaluates program outcomes in compliance with best practice models
• Completes all required training to maintain licensure and other training as required by the organization
• Nurtures collaboration with community-based agencies, including contractual services
• Promotes a positive image of the Parenting PATH and demonstrates an ability to work and execute responsibilities as part of a community and agency team, including participation in agency events
• Provides a flexible schedule that will meet the various needs of staff and families, including 24/7 emergency calls and notifying the supervisor of the emergency or crisis
• Other duties as assigned
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work flexible hours to accomplish the job, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to travel between various locations to promote the program
• A valid North Carolina driver’s license with proper insurance coverage
