Field Personnel

All users of SSWiS agree to the site's .

SSWiS Conditions of Use

  • Users: Access to this database is limited to University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill School of Social Work master's degree students, approved agencies' field instructors and task supervisors, and approved university administrators, faculty and staff.

  • Purpose: This database is used for the development, maintenance and provision of student services, study plans and field education experiences. Use of this information for any other purpose is strictly prohibited. Persons found to be using this information for activities other than University business will have their access privileges withdrawn.

  • Privacy and Security: Users of this database agree to view and handle information contained herein in accordance with applicable University privacy and security policies. (A summary of these policies can be found at http://its.unc.edu/security/policy-summaries/.) In particular, please note that this database is not to be used to store personal health or medical information.

    UNC-Chapel Hill employees: Please be mindful of the University's "7 strategies for protecting sensitive information":

    1. report email scams (see how at https://help.unc.edu/help/how-to-report-phishing-and-spam-emails/)
    2. use strong passwords (and do not allow your browser to save them)
    3. update critical software — such as web browsers, Java, Acrobat and Flash — regularly (this can be facilitated by going to https://browsercheck.qualys.com/)
    4. if not already done, activate anti-virus software (such as Microsoft Security Essentials, available for free to UNC employees at http://shareware.unc.edu/)
    5. if not already done, activate firewall software (which can be verified by following instructions at https://help.unc.edu/help/how-to-enable-a-firewall-on-windows-and-mac-os-x/)
    6. when off-campus, use VPN software (available for free at https://help.unc.edu/help/vpn-installation-and-clients/)
    7. when leaving your computer unattended, lock it (for instance, on Windows machines, click on the Windows key and the lowercase letter "L" simultaneously)

Students

SSWiS contains information and tools for UNC MSW students to use in the development of their study plans and internship experiences ("field placements").

For plans of study, SSWiS has three purposes:

  1. Allows students to declare their concentration area and any specialized programs in which they are enrolled.
  2. Captures students’ learning and professional goals.
  3. Delineates the courses that students will take to meet their MSW degree requirements.

For field placements, SSWiS has three purposes:

  1. Enables students to complete their required field education documents.
  2. Aids students in searching for field placement opportunities.
  3. Provides students with field instructor / task supervisor names and contact information for their assigned field placement sites.

If you are a UNC School of Social Work student wanting to create or view your plan of study or field placement information then, after clicking on the green "login" button above, please login using your ONYEN ID and password.

Faculty Advisors

Faculty advisors are able to use SSWiS to view information about their past and current assigned MSW advisees and review their advisees’ plans of study for approval. If you are a faculty advisor then, after clicking on the green "login" button above, please login using your ONYEN ID and password.

Field Education Personnel

SSWiS contains information and tools for UNC-CH field faculty, field instructors and task supervisor to use when working with students who are completing their field education experiences. If you are a field education personnel member then, after clicking on the purple "login" button above, please login using your Field Agency Portal username and password. If you have forgotten or need to create anew your Field Agency Portal username or password then, after clicking on the purple "login" button above, please follow the help instructions and links below the large blue "Sign In" button.

For Field Instructors/Task Supervisors, SSWiS has two purposes:

  1. Enables field instructors and task supervisors to complete/review and sign their assigned students’ documents
  2. Provides field instructors and task supervisors with the names and contact information for their assigned students and field faculty

 

For Field Faculty, SSWiS has three purposes:

  1. Enables field faculty to review and sign their assigned students’ documents
  2. Provides field faculty with the names and contact information for their assigned students and field instructor/task supervisors
  3. Aids field faculty in searching for available field placement opportunities for students
