Gamble receives Career Achievement Award

Emerita faculty member Dee Gamble received the Career Achievement Award from the Association for Community Organization and Social Administration (ACOSA) at its symposium held in conjunction with the Council on Social Work Education Annual Program Meeting in November.

Gamble’s most recent accomplishment has been working with committees, focus groups and ACOSA members to complete the ACOSA-endorsed Competencies for Community Practice. The Network of Social Work Managers developed the companion competencies for administration and management.

The citation for her article on macropractice competencies has been published in The Journal of Community Practice. The community practice competencies are also presented in the newly-released Handbook of Community Practice, second edition, published by Sage.

Her nominators were Terry Mizrahi from the Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College; Marie Weil from the UNC School of Social Work, and Tracy Soska from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work.

“Given Dee’s exemplary teaching, administration and service during her years at UNC, this honor reflects well on our School,” said Weil.
