Bohley steps down from BHS to return to private practice

Tara Bohley, clinical assistant professor and the director of UNC School of Social Work’s Behavioral Health Springboard (BHS), recently retired from the University to return to her private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist.

Bohley served with BHS since 2013. In this leadership role, she directed contractual training and consultation services related to the publicly funded mental health and substance use disorder service system for the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.

Additionally, she oversaw the UNC-Chapel Hill Mental Health First Aid program activities, including providing the training to faculty, staff and students.

“Tara’s leadership has positioned BHS to become one of the most important forces for behavioral health policy analysis and workforce development in our state,” said BHS principal investigator and associate professor Paul Lanier. “Further the work she has done to expand access to Mental Health First Aid on the UNC campus and across the state is nothing short of transformational. Tara’s work will have an impact for years to come on countless lives. We are all now realizing the importance of mental health services and stigma reduction, but Tara was way ahead of this curve leading the charge over the past decade.”
