Social Worker – Beacon Program

Job Description

Hours: 40 hours/week; 8am-5pm; On-Call 1 week/month
Benefits: Position eligible for full time benefits

This position provides comprehensive, specialized clinical social work services to adult patients, family members, and employees  who have experienced some form of intimate partner and/or family violence; including human trafficking and vulnerable adult abuse. Services provided include bio-psychosocial assessments, advocacy, danger assessments and patient/family/employee education. Provides counseling, safety planning and obtaining community assistance by referral to proper resources relating to violence and abuse. 

Must have skills in interpersonal communication and assessment and be capable of independent judgment and action regarding psychosocial needs of this population. Must be skilled in making reports to child protective and adult protective services. Must be able to provide all services using principles of trauma informed care. Must have direct experience working with clients/patients who have experienced some form of intimate partner or sexual violence.  Adheres to National Association of Social Workers' Code of Ethics.


Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required. Must be licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) in the state of North Carolina.

This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System.
