Social Worker, Western Wake Crisis Ministry

Western Wake Crisis Ministry is a 36-year-old nonprofit in Apex, NC, with a mission of partnering with those in crisis, helping them gain stability through basic supports for food, financial/housing assistance, education, and opportunity.

Western Wake Crisis Ministry provides the following services:
Basic needs

choice food pantry, grocery home delivery (for elderly/disabled), resource assistance and crisis financial assistance
Health and nutrition

UNC Mobile Clinic, cooking and nutrition demonstration, mental/healtheducation and screenings
Support for housing and financial stability and sustainability (the HOME Project & Enhanced Resource Assistance)
Assessment, goal setting, coaching, case management,budgeting/job seeking support, and financialassistance. This is a relationship-based program using volunteers. This is a relationship-based program using volunteers and social work support.
Impact Coaching
short term coaching provided by trained volunteers focusing on 5 key areas to improve stability and sustainability: housing security, food security, job/income security, transportation, adult education.

We are seeking a Social Worker for 40 hours per week to support program participants and volunteers working in our sustainability and basic needs programs. This position answers to the executive director. To apply, send resume and cover leader to employment@wwcm.org

Key responsibilities:
Provide support and continuityfor program participants through follow up, home visiting, resource development, and direct case management, particularly those with more complex situations
o
Assess eligibility for services
oEstablish effective professional social work relationship
oAddress relevant issues(physical/mental health, substance abuse, trauma/domestic violence, employment, education, credit/financial management, family well-being, etc.)
o
Support and coach around client-centered goals
o
Make appropriate referrals to community resources
o
Develop and maintain relationships with landlords and act as mediator between landlord and participant to stabilize housing
o
Document work through case files and client database
Assist the Executive Director and volunteer team with program design including creating policies and procedures for the HOME Project, Resource Supports, Impact Coaching and other new and evolving programming
Recruit, train,and support volunteers who are providing direct and ongoing support for program participants
Support the outreach committee in expanding our reach throughout the community to ensure that our services are accessible and known to all who need them
Develop positive working relationships with community partners and service providers
Maintaina comprehensive resource list through continuous research based on current program participant needs
Stay informed about evolving best practices in sustainability services and bring information back to our teamof volunteers and staff

The ideal candidate will have the following education, skills, and experience:
Master of Social Work degree or other Human Services related field and experience working with vulnerable populations, providing crisis response services, and working from a coaching/client-valued perspective
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal,
Fluent in Spanish is a plus
Knowledge and experience with trauma informed practice, Rapid Re-housing/Homeless Prevention, and other best practices in working with individuals and families struggling with poverty and housing is a plus
A collaborative nature and willingness to work in a shared office environment
