Social Worker – LCSW or LCSW-A


Position Description

The Integrated Pediatric Mental Health (IPMH) team in Duke’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a LCSW or LCSW-A to support the Duke Center for Adolescent and Young Adult Substance Use Treatment (CAST), as well as other clinics and ongoing initiatives. A key focus of this position will be working collaboratively across departments and clinical services.

Work Performed

Substance use evaluations, individual and family therapy with adolescent and young adult substance use clients, group therapy in the Intensive Outpatient Program, liaison in the community regarding the substance use program, participation in substance use team meetings, collaboration in future development of the substance use program.

Across clinics, interview patients, their families and other concerned parties to obtain information about personal, social and environmental history.

Participate in periodic staff conferences to present case histories; confer with other members of the CAST and IPMH team to develop comprehensive evaluations and/or plan pertinent treatment programs to provide maximum benefits for each patient.

Maintain liaison with community agencies; participate in area activities related to health and welfare services.

Accept on-call responsibilities for after-hours coverage if required. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Qualifications


Work requires a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work. Candidates with comparable training and experience (e.g., Master’s in Psychology) may also be considered. Experience and training in clinical work with adolescents and young adults with substance use required.
