SSW climbs in national rankings

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Social Work is ranked as the fifth-best graduate school of social work in the United States, U.S. News & World Report announced on March 20, 2018. The School is ranked third among public universities and is the only Southern school in the top 15.

"The high ranking is a testament to the excellent work of our outstanding faculty, staff and students, as well as to the leadership and commitment from our board of advisors, alumni council, alumni and stakeholders," Dean Gary Bowen noted.

The ranking is based on two types of data, according to U.S. News & World Report: 1) statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students, and 2) statistical surveys measuring program excellence and administered to academics and professionals in the field.

Schools of social work are ranked every three years. The ranking applies to each school's Master of Social Work degree program.

A list of all ranked universities is available on the US News & World Report website.
