Education Program Manager
National Association of Social Workers – North Carolina Chapter
Position Status: Full Time

The North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NC) located in downtown Raleigh, with a statewide membership of over 5,000, is seeking an Education Program Manager with demonstrated event management and program development skills. NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 110,000 members nationwide. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

Major/Essential Functions
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Education Program Manager is responsible for managing NASW-NC’s overall continuing education activities.

Due to the nature of conference work, there will be travel involved in order to attend conferences and some evening and weekend work required at those conferences.

I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Under the strategic direction of the Executive Director, the Education Program Manager will be responsible for planning and executing in-person and virtual events such as conferences, live and recorded webinars, listening sessions, town halls and networking opportunities.

Directly responsible for the creation, development, implementation and growth of Continuing Education programs to meet the needs of the social work profession.

II. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Events/Programming Development and Execution

Organize programming and events with input from the Executive Director, Chapter staff, member committees and Board of Directors that meet the needs of social workers in macro and clinical settings
Essential work includes conference topic identification and development, quality and diverse speaker recruitment and identification, securing conference settings for both in-person and virtual conferences, negotiating hotel and catering contracts and coordination of all online and onsite conference/event details
Provide administrative oversight, management, and operational support of the online registration and fielding potential attendee questions over email and phone
Market and communicate education opportunities to various audiences by updating conferences and events on NASW-NC website and developing marketing materials, emails and social media
Recruit volunteers for and manage Continuing Education Committee and Peer Review Committee
Maintain event budgets including accurate income and expense projections
Managing post-event follow ups including development, distribution, and analyses of evaluations and completion of any continuing education related materials
Manage chapter continuing education endorsement and approval program

General Responsibilities

Perform a wide variety of administrative duties as required to support agency-wide daily operations
Work closely with NASW-NC Executive Director to support program goals as needed
Attend in-person and virtual staff meetings
Support special projects with the Chapter, as assigned
Participate in professional development opportunities, as assigned
Coordinate meetings, conference/virtual calls, and make travel arrangements
Work independently or with a designated team on special projects
Maintain strong and positive relationships with constituents, community partners, and stakeholders
Communicating with professional social workers, students, allied professionals, and/or members as needed, acting as a core representative of the NASW-NC Chapter, and being able to articulate NASW-NC member benefits, services, and opportunities
Occasional evening and weekend obligations
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

III. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:

Knowledge:

Bachelor or Master of Social Work degree or a related field preferred.
Or equivalent amount of years of experience.
Knowledge of graphic design (Adobe programs, Canva) preferred, but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and website design and maintenance.

Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to effectively communicate to a wide variety of audiences.
Ability to lead and collaborate in a complex environment with multiple competing priorities.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Detail-oriented and the ability to think critically.
Ability to work independently, but also as part of multiple teams.

Experience:

Experience in the nonprofit sector and/or membership association is highly desirable.

Compensation & Application:

This position is currently fully remote in light of the COVID-19 pandemic but will require future attendance at the NASW-NC office and at in-person conferences and events. The position salary is $50,000 with health benefits.
