JOB SUMMARY: The Therapist schedules, screens and completes intake interviews with clients, and provides individual, family, and group therapy to children and adolescents. The position works as a part of the school Behavioral Health Coordination Team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform intake process for all clients and provides appropriate referrals.
Develop treatment plans to establish goals and objectives for client treatment.
Conduct therapy sessions, using modalities and methods appropriate to the client and the program, to identify and discuss problems, identify solutions, work with clients to implement solutions, and model appropriate behaviors.
Provide crisis management services as necessary.
Maintain client documentation per required policies and procedures including assessments, contact notes, weekly billing, monthly progress notes, biannual treatment plan updates, all other clinical documentation related to the care of the client.
Participate on the school’s Early Intervention Team and the Behavioral Health Coordination Team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
Current D.C. license in specific discipline i.e. LGSW, LGPC.
Two (2) years direct service experience in a mental health setting.
Experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, and adults,
Experience providing outreach to community groups/ parents.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
Clinical judgment and leadership skills.
