SOCIAL WORKER II
Position # 674944 Salary Range: $49,090-$77,589
Primary Purpose of Position: In this position, the Social Worker is responsible for assessing the needs, assets and barriers of Child Support noncustodial parents to determine the level of intervention and need for services to enable the participants to become self-supporting, self-sufficient, independent and actively paying child support court orders. This worker determines the scope and intensity of services needed through an in-depth assessment and an appropriate service plan developed and tailored to the participant. The worker must coordinate, monitor service delivery, evaluate and counsel with the participant and his/her support system(s). In this position, the Social Worker will also develop and expand the employment and training opportunities for participants in Employment Services. The active caseload of clients meeting the participation rates may range from 30-35 cases. Another 20 or more cases should be in the preliminary status of assessment. The length of service per case can range from 2-24 months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Considerable knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application to individual casework group work and community problems. Knowledge of the psychosocial, socioeconomic and behavioral problems and their treatment. Knowledge of governmental and private organizations and community resources. Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes and their treatment is required In certain programs or settings. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and applying techniques of assessing psychosocial. behavioral, and psychological aspects of client’s problem. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrative superiors members of case load and their families, and with civics medical, social and religious organizations. Ability to train or instruct lower-level social workers, students, or interns. Ability to express Ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work.
Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution; bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. NOTE: Will accept applications for Social Worker I at Salary Grade 63 ($40,696-64,324) working against Social Worker II. Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution; Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid North Carolina driver license required. Bilinguals encouraged to apply. DD 214 is required from applicants claiming a military preference.
