The National Center for Child Traumatic Stress (NCCTS), co-located at UCLA and Duke University is the coordinating center for the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN). The NCCTS is seeking applicants for the position of NCCTS Research Data Tech, Sr. The NCCTS leads, coordinates and facilitates national collaborations and initiatives across child servicing systems and multiple topical domains; producing child trauma resources, products, reports and information for providers, treatment developers, families and stakeholders. Please note that the NCCTS does not provide direct clinical services to children and families. This position (NCCTS Data Tech, Sr.) currently allows remote work and is anticipated to be a combination of remote and on-site in the future. Position is located at Duke University in Durham, NC.
NCTSN description:
The NCTSN is a unique federally funded initiative that seeks to improve the quality, effectiveness and availability of care and services for children and families who are exposed to a wide range of traumatic experiences, including physical and sexual abuse; domestic, school and community violence; natural disasters and terrorism; and life-threatening injury and illness. Combining knowledge of child development, expertise in child traumatic stress, and attention to cultural perspectives, the NCTSN supports the development and broad adoption of evidence-based and trauma-informed treatments. The NCTSN is a collaboration of 140 academic, clinical, and community service centers across the U.S.
Position description:
The NCCTS Research Data Tech, Sr. is a member of the Data and Evaluation Program. This position will:
• Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties involved in collecting, interpreting, documenting and summarizing descriptive, analytical and evaluative data in support of research and/or information gathering activities. Data includes client-level, qualitative, and quantitative data that is de-identified clinical data; other data may come from ad hoc surveys and evaluation efforts.
• Establish procedures for the procurement of data through observation, interviewing, analyzing records and other sources. Procedures include, but are not limited to, surveys, data transfers, focus groups, and a range of process and outcome evaluation tools. Experience with databases is desired.
• Coordinate the coding and entry of data in preparation for processing and analysis; ensure data integrity and quality control.
• Coordinate the preparation of reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Co-develop a wide variety of program evaluation reports, data presentations, and simple frequencies needed to respond to inquiries from our Network and funder (SAMHSA).
• Recommend new methods for collection and documentation of data; write and revise procedural manuals as required. Primary focus is on standard operating procedures manuals, but reference manuals may also be needed to facilitate use of the data in analysis and other dissemination efforts.
• Make work assignments and review the work of co-workers; assist in training of new personnel. There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position; the position works in collaboration with program director, project manager, statistician, and additional project staff. Often workgroups will also include Network partners.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

• Work requires two years of experience as a data technician or related position. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
• Work requires a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the specific position. Master’s degree preferred.
