The Orange County Criminal Justice Resource Department has an opening for a Recovery Diversion Coordinator. This is a time-limited, benefited position. An employee in this position is primarily responsible for serving as the Coordinator for the Recovery Diversion Program (RDP), a new pre-arrest diversionary program for individuals with a history of substance use disorder and opioid use disorder. This program, which operates in close collaboration with law enforcement agencies, seeks to enhance harm reduction efforts in Orange County by diverting individuals in need of treatment from the criminal justice system. The Coordinator will receive referrals from law enforcement entities and court stakeholders and will assess and identify treatment and resource needs in the community to maximize opportunities for success in recovery, with an enhanced focus on serving individuals from marginalized backgrounds, including people of color and those who identify as LGBTQ+.

Work involves providing assessment, counseling, case management, support and preventive services through diversion plans to people at-risk, and making appropriate referrals and connections, processing and maintaining a variety of forms and records and arranging for the provision of services in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations. This position works work closely with law enforcement agencies, court stakeholders and community agencies that serve individuals who have experienced substance or opioid use disorders to ensure trauma-informed care, harm reduction, evidence-based best practices, due process, and innovation, while enhancing and expanding pre-arrest diversion programming in Orange County.
