Job Purpose: Housing insecurity and homelessness occurs at alarming rates among college students in our community. Our Program Coordinator will lead the development and ongoing management of HOST (Housing Options for Students Today), a new host home program to support students who experience housing insecurity by matching them with community hosts who offer students safe and affirming space in their homes.

Location: Flexible. This position will work out of dedicated office and meeting space in Raleigh, NC but many job duties can also be performed remotely as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Lead program development activities to effectively provide students with short term housing assistance. This includes:

Creating program policies and procedures, utilizing knowledge of the population served and best practice research
Building strategic relationships with partner organizations to assure needs and concerns of students and hosts are being addressed
Coordinate and provide ongoing management of Host Home Program activities. This includes:
Leading and supporting student advocates (case managers), interns or other long-term volunteers.
Facilitating activities for recruitment, screening and retention of hosts
Collaborating with higher education partners to match eligible students with hosts
Managing HOST program funds and budget
Participating in evaluation of HOST processes with a focus on continuous improvement and positive outcomes.
Promote a foundation of social justice, anti-racism, and cultural humility in all aspects of HOST operations.

Hiring Requirements: We are in search of a qualified and creative Program Coordinator who is passionate about our organization’s mission of positively impacting the lives of college students faced with housing insecurity.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in social services, housing, non-profit management, community organizing, or other relevant work; candidates with 3+ years of experience may also be considered. Those with additional relevant experience in place of a degree should also apply.

Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Additionally, the Program Coordinator should have the following experiences and personal attributes:

Demonstrated experience working with individuals and communities of color and commitment to integrating student voices and cultural humility into all components of the Host Home Program
Project management and/or program development experience
Strong collaboration skills with experience coordinating a group towards a common goal
Demonstrated ability to work independently (and occasionally outside of standard working hours) without day-to-day supervision

This position allows for some remote work, but will also include in-person contact with students and/or hosts, including occasional home visits.

Compensation: This is a full time position with an annual salary range of $40,000 – $50,000 and standard benefits.
