The Art Therapy Institute (ATI) has openings for Outpatient Mental Health Therapists. This is a contracted position for therapy services in local area schools (multiple sites). Most of the work will take place in-person within the CHCCS system and via tele-health as needed.
Ideal candidates thrive when working independently but also value collaboration with co-workers, are organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented. ATI contracted therapists must be able to maintain healthy boundaries appropriate to a community-based mental health agency. Therapists are expected to perform all essential job functions in addition to other work-related duties ATI may add from time to time.
Therapists are responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Traveling to multiple school locations each week.
Coordinating client schedules and therapy locations with school staff.
Caseload of approximately 15-25 direct client contact hours. This may be a mixture of individual clients and group work.
Professional and ethical best standards of practice expected in all areas of clinical practice.
Assessing client needs, formulating diagnosis, and completing treatment plans.
Providing Comprehensive Coordinated Care to all parties involved.
Maintaining accurate clinical files.
Uploading notes digitally within three days of session – this applies to both group and individual sessions.
Collecting research and demographic data for all clients.
Processing payments and insurance claims with the billing service.
Submitting client hours for payroll.
Maintaining independent professional limited liability insurance and providing ATI administration with current policy.
Abiding by the ethical codes outlined by AATA, ATCB, ACA, NCBLCMHC, IEATA, CBMT and HIPAA.
Maintaining up-to-date licensure, credentials, professional development/continuing education, and professional profiles on all relevant websites (CAQH, NCTracks, Medicaid portals, etc.).
Attending and assisting with two to three ATI events per year.
Attending weekly group supervision meetings.
Required qualifications and experience:
Master’s degree in human service related field.
Provisional or full licensure as one of the following: LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT.
Active clinical license in the State of North Carolina: LCMHC, LCSW or LMFT.
Experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents.
Competency with individual, group and family therapy.
Professional liability insurance.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Master’s degree in either Art Therapy or Expressive Arts Therapy, as well as an ATR-BC and/or REAT.
Previous experience with Comprehensive Clinical Assessments.
Previous experience with Expressive Arts Therapy.
Familiarity working with children and adolescents.
Must consent to a criminal background check.
Administrative support for the position includes:
Weekly group supervision (required if contracted therapist works with ATI more than five hours per week).
Individual supervision as needed from the executive staff.

Compensation and benefits
The contracted therapist shall be paid 70% of billable service proceeds, and 70% of non-insurance-based contracted amounts. An additional administrative rate of $20 per hour shall be paid for note-writing, one hour per every five clinical hours billed. Each program/contract has unique pay-out rates. The contracted therapist will discuss and agree upon the specific amounts with the Executive Director, the Program Director, or the Clinical Director before services are rendered.
