Position Summary The School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for two twelve-month, non-tenure-track, open rank faculty positions (1.0 FTE). The mission of the School of Social Work is to advance equity, transform systems and improve lives. The curriculum supports this mission and includes a focus on evidence-based practice; concern for disadvantaged, vulnerable, and oppressed individuals, families, and communities; and the design and development of social interventions. These positions are twelve-month appointments beginning May 15, 2021 through June 30, 2022 are reviewed annually for reappointment.

Position Number 1: We are seeking applicants with breadth of social work practice experience and expertise and ability to teach in generalist and direct practice specialization courses. Specifically, the applicant should have experience as a school social worker and in social work practice with assessment and intervention with individuals and families. Experience working in field education is strongly preferred. Applicants should have an LCSW and demonstrated skills and experience in teaching graduate level classes or training. This non-tenured position is responsible for coordinating field education in the practice areas of school social work and children and families as well as teaching four graduate classes per year.

Position Number 2: We are seeking applicants with breadth of social work practice experience and expertise and ability to teach in generalist and direct practice specialization courses. Specifically, the applicant should have experience working broadly in mental health serving adults, children and their families including experience in social work assessment and intervention with individuals and families. Experience working in field education is strongly preferred. Applicants should have an LCSW and demonstrated skills and experience in teaching graduate level classes or training. This non-tenured position is responsible for coordinating field education/administrative functions for the Three-Year Chapel Hill MSW Program and for teaching three graduate classes per year.

Educational Requirements Applicants must possess an M.S.W. degree from an accredited CSWE social work program and a minimum of five years post-M.S.W. practice experience.
Qualifications and Experience The applicant is expected to have a superior record of teaching/training and the ability to integrate research and scholarship into course development, assignments, and lectures. Experience teaching in a seminar-like format is preferred. Applicants should have exemplary relationship-building skills and knowledge of North Carolina communities. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
