The Office of the Parent Defender (OPD) provides and promotes high quality legal representation for parents affected by the child welfare system (DSS). Research has shown that adding social workers to a parent’s defense team increases high-quality parent legal representation. OPD is starting an Interdisciplinary Representation Program (“IRP” or “Program”) which will pair contract social workers with parent attorneys. This position will:
* assist in the development and implementation of the program
* recruit and hire contract social workers
* provide training and supervision of the contract social workers, and
* assist in the program evaluation
