Under the supervision of the Transition Services Manager, the School Based Transition Instructor position is responsible for providing direct services to students (ages 14-22) with disabilities. This includes understanding and being able to communicate individually or in groups, to facilitate learning in the 5 areas outlined by WIOA regulations:
Job exploration and counseling
Work-based learning
Workplace readiness
Instruction in self-advocacy
Post-secondary education counseling
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in Human Services or a closely related business field, (education, rehabilitation, social work, etc.) preferred. Extensive experience in the field may substitute for degree. Must have valid NC Driver’s License and driving record that adheres to Agency standards. Must be able to work in various schools in multiple counties.
Salary
Commensurate with experience.
Physical Requirements
Position is considered sedentary to light, requiring 50% sedentary and 50% mobility. Travel between multiple schools in different counties (Halifax, Nash and Wake). Lifting less than 10 pounds. Requires visual observation and the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals.
