Job Summary
Emphasis on working with currently licensed foster/adoptive families and placement of foster children in their homes, as well as evaluating, training & licensing new foster/adoptive families. Provide support and training to kinship families with children placed in their homes. Also includes duties related to assisting social workers with locating appropriate placements for foster children. Effectively train new and current foster families. Participate in foster/adoptive family recruitment. Conduct well written and accurate pre-placement assessments/home studies to assess the parenting capabilities of potential foster/adoptive parents to ensure the safety of potential foster children placed in the home. Competently and accurately complete home visits and the relicensing process with the family within required time frame. Prepare foster family for placement and separation and provide ongoing counseling to alleviate family crises and/or improve parenting of children with behavioral and/or emotional problems. Effectively communicate with foster families, DSS social workers, and community partners. Thorough and timely documentation of case information required. Sharing after hours on-call duties with other staff is required.
Minimum Qualifications
MSW from an accredited school of social work or a BSW plus one year of Child Welfare experience or a BSW from the child Welfare Collaborative. A Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field, plus two years of relevant child welfare work experience. A valid NC driver’s license desired.

Salary grade 63; $53,856
