Position: Embedded Clinical Social Worker

DURO is seeking a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide a full range of psychological support to members assigned to the XXX Rescue/Special Tactics Squadron. This position will be operationally-oriented centered on employing psychological services towards performance optimization, injury/illness prevention, and restoration/rehabilitation of elite-class military operational personnel.

Qualifications
● Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited educational institution.
● Must meet credentialing/privileging requirements of the local Medical Treatment Facility such as having practiced as an independent LCSW within the last two years (minimum of 32 hrs of clinical care) in a mental health clinical setting.
● Must meet education and licensing requirements in accordance with Air Force privileging standards: Clinical social workers must demonstrate appropriate skills, training, and experience to be considered for clinical privileges.
● Demonstrated working knowledge of medical/mental health terminology including knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
● Ability to leverage evidence-based treatments for a full range of psychiatric disorders, and apply professional diagnostic skills.
● Knowledge of administration, scoring, and interpretation of select psychological and psycho-social measures to properly assess individual needs.
● Ability to tailor and deliver resiliency/preventative individual and group education and training, based on population trends and needs.
● Ability to apply psychological strategies to improve individual and unit mission-related capabilities.
● Aptitude to multi-task and thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment along with excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse patient and staff.
● Ability to communicate effectively with members of the organization.
● Ability to work independently, productively and accurately with minimal supervision.
● Must be U.S. Citizenship or able to legally work in the U.S.
● Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
● Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently, in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
● Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
● Ability to effectively/efficiently use computer systems and ancillary programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other programs as required.
● Capable of meeting physical demands including the ability to lift 50lbs, hike over rough terrain, and willing to observe training in field conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience working with physicians providing medical psychology services to Military Personnel or Elite Athletic Populations (NCAA, Professional Sports).
● Experience providing medical psychology services to Military Personnel, specific to Military SOF community.
● Experience working in embedded performance setting is preferred.
Job Tasks
● Provide limited-scope individual counseling within the unit environment as part of a multidisciplinary team member.
● Conduct unit circulation (a good portion of service delivery will be engaging unit members in their work stations, training sites, and during annual training).
● Provide unit command consultationMeet regularly with unit leadership as part of the human performance team to provide consultation on unit performance, well-being, and overall effectiveness.
● Provide brief, targeted training, education, and interventions to improve operator mission capabilities, mitigate occupational exposures that impact their psychological health, and speed recovery and rehabilitation.
● Develop, plan, and initiate programs in the areas of performance enhancement, resilience, and organizational effectiveness to support all aspects of operator readiness.
● Provide technical expertise and consultation regarding research in mental health, mental performance, and organizational effectiveness to unit leadership and human performance team.
● Provide traumatic stress response and psychological first aid services for
● Liaison to community resources and programs for unit members.
● In collaboration with the MTF Mental Health Clinic, provide individual patient care for unit members IAW AFI 44-172 Mental Health.
● Administer and interpret psychosocial assessment(s) (appropriate to patient type and reason for referral) to assist in treatment plan.
● Formulate treatment plan to include the use of evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
● Maintain accurate and current Mental Health notes and patient records.
● Actively collaborate with case management and health care teams in identification of outcome indicators, in data collection and analysis.
● Manage high risk unit patients and access to higher level of care..
● Participate in medical profile and medical board process to ensure oversight of unit patient limited duty and/or separation status.
● Participate in and utilize supervision to assess level of competence in embedded/operational clinical social work, identify areas for professional growth and establish mutually agreed upon goals.
● Consult with medical personnel, legal authorities and military commands as appropriate.
